Poem: This Little Girl

This little girl inside of me
Angry; wounded; abased,
Wonders if she can trust any man
Or if God even has enough grace.

This little girl inside of me
Scarred; violated; abused.
Cries out for someone to love her;
Gets so frightened of being used.

This little girl inside of me
Looks at her grown up self in confusion.
My grown up self for wholeness.
Wondering if it's just a delusion.

My grown up self reaches to wipe
Tears from my little girl's face.
Now hand in hand, together they search
To find the Savior's grace.

My grown up self is learning
To hear the child inside;
To cry with her; hold her close;
Join her at Jesus side.

Holding tightly to Christ's hand,
This child and woman become united at last,
Finding courage to face their fears.
Eventually to make peace with their past.
